Admission into an inpatient setting can be overwhelming for
patients and their loved ones. Staff members want to assist
you in making this admission as smooth and easy as possible.
The staff members on the SMTC include doctors, nurses,
teachers, activity therapists, Mental Health Technicians and
social workers. Together they form a “Inter-Disciplinary
Treatment Team”. The Inter-Disciplinary Treatment Team’s
main responsibility is the development of the individualized
treatment plan, known as the “Master Treatment Plan.” The
plan considers all your needs, including: therapeutic,
academic, medical/physical, recreational, social, emotional,
cultural, and spiritual needs. The Team meets to design the
plan and then meets again weekly to discuss progress and
issues that may arise, or changes that need to be made.
These meetings, known as “staffings”, have a representative
from each discipline in attendance to ensure a well-rounded
discussion of your progress. Your primary therapist will go
over your plan with you in detail and encourage you’re
active participation in treatment.
All treatment plans and therapeutic assignments are
individualized and based on each person’s abilities. An
“Individual Program” is a special individualized
intervention, providing assessment and monitoring of
patients who are not responding to day-to-day living in the
community. These programs are developed by the Treatment
Team and become a part of the Master Treatment Plan. The
goal of these programs is to help patients learn appropriate
and safe coping skills to manage themselves and others
within the community, and replace socially unacceptable
behaviors with ones that help patients interact with
themselves and others more successfully.
You may benefit from medication therapy. Medication therapy
is assessed and monitored by the attending physician. The
physician and the nursing staff will discuss your
medications with you and your family before this treatment
option is started they will provide any needed information
and feedback as treatment is continued.
You will be participating in individual, family and group
therapy. All are designed to help you work thorough various
problems and issues in your life. You are strongly
encouraged to take advantage of all treatment opportunities.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Your psychiatrist along with your individual therapist will
see you on a regular basis. This is a time to work on
specific issues to further enhance the progress toward
achieving the treatment goals.
FAMILY THERAPY
Family sessions will be held twice a week. Family therapy
sessions are held in person or by phone if needed for
parents who are not in the local area.
GOING HOME
As you meet the goals and objectives on your treatment plan,
you will be more actively preparing to leave the Acute care
setting. After being informed of your discharge date you are
expected to participate fully in program activities until
the day of discharge.
AFTERCARE
Your therapist, family, and you will formulate an aftercare
plan to include continuing treatment as needed.
The Spring Mountain Treatment Center (SMTC) program will
provide you with a safe, predictable, organized, supportive,
and caring environment, which we believe, is vital in the
treatment of adolescents and adults with mental illness.
